The Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL), operator of Evraz Place, requires flexible, customer-focused employees to help deliver more than 700 events each year. Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Director, Entertainment and Events, the Manager, Entertainment and Events is responsible and accountable for successfully managing all aspects of Queen City Ex (QCX), including delivering objectives that enhance QCX, while ensuring the event’s quality and profitability. Responsibilities include developing budgets, creating new revenue streams, controlling costs, sourcing and contracting midway attractions, coordinating employee and volunteer activities, and meeting overall financial goals.  The Manager, Events and Entertainment, works closely with the team to coordinate procurement and distribution of promotional items, signage and communication plans for social and traditional media. Other responsibilities include researching new fair and entertainment trends and communicating and liaising with advance ticket suppliers/outlets concerning event/ticket promotion and delivery. The position of Manager, Entertainment and Events uses EventPro to generate rental agreements, prepare service orders, schedule facilities, invoice clients and maintain records.                                          

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education, training and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years marketing and sales experience in the entertainment and events industry
  • Experience managing fairs and exhibitions would be an asset

Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Sales Manager, Catering and Consumer/Trade Shows, the Sales Coordinator is a member of Regina Exhibition Association Limited’s Marketing Communications and Sales Department and works collaboratively with the sales team to facilitate overall revenue growth for Evraz Place through the delivery of superior customer service and quality sales support.  This position assists in the implementation of the sales strategy as developed by the Sales Manager(s) and the tracking and analysis of sales results by preparing monthly, weekly or daily sales reports and by ensuring adherence to corporate policies and procedures.  The Sales Coordinator plays a key role in assuring focused and productive communication with new and existing clients, partners and suppliers by managing inbound sales inquiries; providing pre and post-sales support to clients; monitoring Evraz Place’s booking calendar; and providing sales and administrative support involving efficient handling of client information, generating sales reports and preparing sales proposals and confidential agreements.                                                             

Education and Experience:

  • Degree, certificate or diploma in Commerce, Marketing, Public Relations, Hospitality Management or related field; or a combination of related education, training and direct work experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years sales experience; relevant experience in telephone sales or another inside sales role is considered an asset.
  • Proven proficiency with computers specific to Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook

Facilities and Event Delivery

Arena Operator

Reporting to the Manager, Sport Operations, the Arena Operator is responsible for ensuring clean, safe and healthy recreation facilities. This includes cleaning and maintaining the buildings, set up and take down for public and private functions in the building; cleaning and maintenance of the ice surface and assisting in the ice plant and arena building.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred
  • Previous experience in performing the function of ice making and ice maintenance is an asset. 
  • Experience in multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ice making and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.

Other: 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have steel-toed work boots/shoes.  
Custodian

Reporting to the Manager, Custodial Services the Custodian is responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior of the buildings and their surrounding grounds.  Keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition.  Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing garbage.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred
  • Previous experience working with chemicals and janitorial machinery preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of WHMIS program and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
  • Knowledge of working with chemicals and janitorial machinery.

Labourer

Reporting to the Director, Facilities and Event Delivery the Labourer is responsible for working both indoors and outdoors throughout the grounds and various facilities both on site and off site to move, set-up and tear down of equipment for various events.  This position is also expected to deal with customers with courteous and respectful manner.  

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Refrigeration Operator’s or Fireman’s Ticket is an asset, but not required.
  • Possession of a valid CPR & First Aid certification card is an asset, but not required 
  • Experience in the operations of arena, commercial or industrial building maintenance. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work at a sustained pace and produces quality work.

Other:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Provincial driver’s license. 
  • This position is physically strenuous and demanding job that includes lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects anywhere from 40 lbs. to 100+ lbs.

Operator

Reporting to the Director, Facilities and Event Delivery the Operator is responsible for working both indoors and outdoors throughout the grounds and various facilities.  Responsibilities include: operating various machinery and equipment (i.e. Forklift, front end loader, unit-loader, dump truck, skid steer, scissor lift, street sweeper, ride on sweeper/scrubber) to move materials around various locations on grounds.  .  

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety regulations regarding heavy equipment operation and/or a certificate in heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of Safety Regulations, Labour Code and Occupational Health and Safety Standards.

Other:

  • Must have valid Driver’s License

Parking Attendant

Reporting to the Manager, Security the Parking Attendant is responsible for attending designated parking areas during established lot hours and directing drivers to the appropriate parking areas. This position will provide information to visitors and staff; monitors and/or patrols lots to check for required permits and to ensure cars are parked in designated spaces and not blocking traffic flow and will report any suspicious activity.  The Parking Attendants may be the first point of contact with guests and sets the standard for customer service at the facility as the first impression.. 

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.

Special Event Security

Reporting to the Manager, Security, the Special Event Security position is responsible for enforcing Evraz Place rules and regulations and ensuring the personal safety of staff, guests and company assets before, during and after events. This position will monitor audiences at events to maintain order, resolve conflicts, and identify disruptive behaviours (e.g., excessive alcohol and smoking in no-smoking areas); provide assistance to patrons and staff in the event of an evacuation or emergency; inform Evraz Place security supervisors/management of emergency situations; document incidents or serious occurrences in shift reports.  This position regularly patrols the area observing surroundings for any security or safety concerns and addressing them before an issue arises.  This position will also provide information to guests in a courteous and friendly manner.  

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Formal training and/or work experience in the field of security services or crowd control is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and physical ability of how to handle confrontational/violent/abusive/intoxicated situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.

Food & Beverage

Bartender

Reporting to the Manager, Food & Beverage the Bartender’s main responsibility is mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages quickly, accurately, and without waste for guests and servers. While providing a high level of customer service they will ensure work areas are clean; process a variety of payment transactions (i.e. cash, ticket or token) for products and make correct change when necessary.  Bartenders also resolve conflicts; enforce liquor laws and Evraz Place policies and procedures. 

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous customer service in hospitality environment.
  • Previous experience is preferred.
  • “SIRS” certification preferred.
  • Experience working with P.O.S an asset
  • Cash handling experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Point of Sale systems.

Catering Server

Reporting to the Manager, Catering the Catering Server is responsible for providing a gracious level of service to guests to support guest satisfaction in the Food and Beverage Department. The Catering Server is also responsible for contributing to an environment within Evraz Place which encourages fellow co-workers to be happy, motivated and proud of the products and services provided by Evraz Place, resulting in a joyful, memorable, relaxed and casual event for the guest.  

Education and Experience:

  • Previous serving experience in the Hotel and/or Restaurant industry is preferred.
  • Previous customer service is preferred 
  • Safe Food Handling is preferred.

Porter

Reporting to the Manager, Catering the Porter is responsible to become fully conversant with all aspects of the Conference & Banqueting department. This is to include; conference standards, function sheet translation, room set ups, Conference service, banqueting service and conference & catering preparation. This position ensures that all tasks are completed in line with company standards. 

Education and Experience:

  • Previous porter experience in a Hotel and/or Restaurant industry is preferred.
  • Service Best; Food Safe, Serve-It-Right and WHMIS certifications would be an asset.
  • Previous experience dealing with and serving customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Standards, preferred.

Concession Counter Attendant

Reporting to the Manager, Food & Beverage the Concession Counter Attendant is responsible to provide a high level of customer service while receiving customer food and beverage orders and accurately inputting the order into the point of sale system and accepting payment for those orders.  The Concession Counter Attendant is to maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow established procedures for maintenance, cleaning and operation of concession area and equipment. Perform required duties in a pleasant and courteous manner to satisfy customer needs.  Prepare items such as fountain beverages, hot beverages, nachos, pretzels, etc using standard formulas or following directions.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with cash registers/POS system is preferred.
  • Previous experience dealing with and serving customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic food-handling procedures.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills. 
Concession Cook

Reporting to the Manager, Food & Beverage the Concession Cook is responsible for preparing concession menu items, operating kitchen equipment, proper storage of food, unpacking and storing supplies in refrigerators, cupboards and other storage areas, and sweeping and mopping floors.  They ensure food items are prepared according to quality and quantity standards as required by event while ensuring the highest level of sanitation is maintained.  

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Safe Food Handling course.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of techniques and equipment for preparing and producing food for consumption, including storage and handling techniques.
  • Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction.
Stock Clerk

Reporting to the Manager, Food & Beverage and under the supervision of the Commissary Supervisor, the Stock Clerk is responsible to provide prompt, courteous and helpful customer service throughout the retail locations by ensuring proper stocking levels within the retail food and beverage concessions and bars. This position will receiving stock at loading bays and delivers or unloads stock manually or with hand operated or motorized equipment; accurately completes all necessary paperwork (stock orders forms, transfer forms and vending sheets) as per Evraz Place standards and assists with the placement of the bar units and mobile concessions as required. 

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Forklift license is considered an asset
  • Previous stock/warehouse experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Standards 
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of “FIFO” – first in/first out method.
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to physically lift and move heavy objects manually and with hand operated/motorized equipment.
General Helper – Dishwasher

Reporting to the Executive Chef or designate, the position of Dishwasher is responsible for performing a variety of food preparation duties other than cooking, but not limited to preparing cold foods and shellfish, slicing meat, and brewing coffee or tea. This position is also responsible for various cleaning duties related to the kitchen area.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • One years’ experience in a commercial kitchen operation, is preferred. 
  • Successful completion of a Safe Food Handling Course, is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of public health regulations and standards, is an asset.

Cook I

Reporting to the Executive Chef or designate and under the close supervision of a senior cook, the Cook I is responsible for the routine preparation and presentation of both hot and cold foods such as entrée's, soups, sauces, pastries and any other menu items in accordance with set quality standards. The Cook 1 is typically the entry and training level position. This position also assists in the cleaning of kitchen area and general maintenance of equipment and inventory control.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Two to Three years’ experience in a restaurant/hotel kitchen operation.
  • Experience in the preparation and presentation of hot/cold food, desserts and buffet displays is preferred.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.

Cook II

Reporting to the Executive Chef or designate and under minimal supervision, the Cook II is responsible for the more complex preparation and presentation of full course entrée's, soups, sauces, pastries and any other menu items required from the raw product stage in accordance with set quality standards.  In addition, the Cook II will give direction and supervision to other Cooks. This position also assists in the cleaning of kitchen area and general maintenance of equipment and inventory control.    

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
  • Four to Six years’ experience in a commercial kitchen.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and presentation of hot/cold food, desserts and buffet displays is preferred.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification.

Sports Entertainment & Events

Box Office Cashier

Reporting to the Manager, Box Office and Cash Operations and under the supervision of the Box Office Supervisor, this position is responsible for completing all transactions in the Brandt Centre Box Office and related activities in various locations throughout Evraz Place. This position will largely focus on supporting our merchandise staff requirements during the evening hours on event days.  The Box Office Cashier will be required to utilize Ticketmaster to process the sales of certain transactions. In addition, the Box Office Cashier is responsible for any merchandising activities such as set up, the selling and handling of cash or credit card transactions. Box Office Cashiers will also assist the supervisor and department manager in the inventory reconciliation and Audit processes. 

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Must have a strong customer service background
  • Experience handling cash and credit cards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of computers 
  • Proficiency in basic math skills, with the ability to manually calculate sales transactions
  • Ability to work independently; 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (when performing merchandise related duties) and work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to lift objects such as merchandise inventory weighing up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques

Guest Relations Host / Hostess

Reporting to the Manager, Box Office and Cash Operations, the Guest Relations Host/Hostess is responsible for ensuring accurate admission, greeting, directing patrons, and helping ensure that patrons have a safe, pleasurable experience.  This position is responsible to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests and event attendees.  They greet and direct guests upon arrival, answer guest questions; remaining polished and poised in all guest interactions.  Other responsibilities include scanning tickets and checking for proper credentials when patrons enter the building; assisting customers to their seats by giving verbal directions and identifying the general area where the customers’ seats are located, watching for seating problems and handling lost items.  They often act as a liaison between guests and other Evraz Place departments to meet and exceed customer needs.   

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience providing exceptional customer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Evraz Place buildings, policies and procedures.
